Anime (and Manga!) is a great medium for anime-firearm fanatics to check out all sorts of anime-weapons! From miniscule versions to galaxy-spanning threats, all sorts of anime-guns have been made famous here! Check out some examples of what makes an Anime gun rock below!
AGL Arms .45 Long Colt (Trigun)
As Trigun’s iconic handgun, the AGL Arms .45 Long Colt is actually used by both the protagonist and the antagonist in the series. The main difference between the two is that Vash has a silver variant; Knives has the darker one.
But focusing more on the gun’s technical aspects, the AGL Arms .45 Long Colt most striking feature is that it is literally a hand cannon. Used in conjunction with the flexibility of a magnum, a miniature Plant tech within, and of course a gun-slinger’s skills, then you have a powerful weapon that can even threaten when not fired!

Dominator (Psycho Pass)
The Psycho Pass universe deals with the concept that potential crime can be stopped beforehand. The series’ Sibyl System basically tracks criminal coefficients in a population – individuals with a spike in these variables are hunted down by the police force.
What makes this already dark idea more frightening is the firearm used to fight against criminals. The Dominator (Dominator Portable Psychological Diagnosis and Suppression System in full) is a weapon that can both gauge the level of criminal coefficient in an individual, and set the level of force needed to sustain a threat.
From a non-lethal paralyzer mode to the devastating lethal eliminator mode (with an additional destroy decomposer mode to be used against inanimate objects), the Dominator is a terrifying and effective firearm!

Pakunoda’s Pistol (Hunter x Hunter)
Although not limited to any form of gun, Hunter X Hunter’s Pakunoda’s Nen skill makes it an interesting choice for a firearm. Pakunoda makes use of her unique ability, Psychometry (which helps her to read and extract information from targets), with an additional Memory Bomb skill (which allows her to share her memories with her targets through Nen channeled onto bullets).
The result? A gun that can either inform others of crucial information – or take away memories as well (shooting a target with a Nen charged bullet that contains a memory already known by the target erases the said memory)!

Hellsing ARMS .454 Casull Auto and Hellsing ARMS 13 mm Auto Anti-Freak Combat Pistol, Jackal (Hellsing)
As the iconic guns of the legendary Alucard of Hellsing, the two hand cannons (shortened names are Casull and Jackal, respectively) are known for its tremendous firepower and durability. Used solely by the vampire protagonists, these guns hold massive bullets that can kill all sorts of foes with just one shot. The funny and interesting bit about the Casull, specifically?
Alucard tends to be seen reloading the gun every now and then – but he doesn’t need to, since the gun seems to have its own pocket universe to hold an indefinite number of bullets to shoot!
A conventional firearm chambered to house and fire more powerful rounds, the .357 Magnum for Lupin III’s S&W Model 19 is still an iconic choice of a gun – mainly because of this amazing series’ marksman’s skills! Even when against all sorts of foes, the motley crew headed by the legendary thief Lupin is a great balance of skills that gets any sort of job done. With Jigen’s sharpshooting prowess, even his normal handgun is a force to be reckoned with!

Bounty hunters in the Cowboy Bebop universe need to have weapons that will grant them both flexibility and stopping power. And for an excellent bounty hunter such as Spike Spiegel, the Jericho 941 does seem to be the perfect handgun for the job.
Dubbed as the Baby Eagle, the Jericho 941 R has the impressive power to stop even armored foes, without losing out on some much-needed accuracy. Also, Spike did outfit his gun with a laser sight and some custom grips – proving that the late gunman knows his stuff in firearms!
When we said guns, we meant all sorts of forms – even the spiritual types! And Yu Yu Hakusho may have one of the most iconic forms, with the protagonist’s Yusuke famous technique, the Spirit Gun.
A technique that channels one spiritual energy to his or her hands, the collected energy is then released through the fingertips. Mimicking on how a gun is shot, this technique is usually done with the release found on the index finger.
Additionally, “bullets” are determined on one’s spiritual energy. Yusuke originally can only fire a single shot each day – it is through his training with Koenma that made him increase his stockpile of daily shots!
Also, another form exists – the spirit shotgun. Instead of having an index finger to release the energy, forming a fist will allow to expel the entire load of spiritual energy. This technique however has a limited range and makes use of all bullets meant for the day!

Possibly the strongest in this list, the Space Battleship Yamato’s Wave Motion Gun tears planets apart – a no contest when it comes to sheer force! Essentially harnessing the energy found in the ship’s wave motion engine, the energy is released through a really long barrel to shoot towards a specified target. The Yamato is designed in such a way to fire this form of energy – the entire ship towards the engine portion is the barrel used to release the wave motion energy!

To make matters worse for enemies, disrupting the energy can be done in two forms: a dispersal type that spreads energy out in a certain area and a concentration type, which allows energy focused to a certain point.
No matter the form used, the wave motion energy gun may very well be one of Anime and Manga’s most monstrous forms of guns!
